Outdoor gatherings have increased in popularity in recent months, but when you're trying to make your gathering special, you may want to ditch the barbecue and opt for something a little less common. Whether you're hosting a wedding reception, graduation party or a birthday bash, consider these three fun catering options that are perfect for outdoor events:
Hog Roast
A hog roast is ideal for a laidback gathering, and hiring a catering company that offers hog roasts will free you up to enjoy your event without having to have any hands-on involvement with the food preparation or service. Your chosen caterer will provide everything that's required for a delicious hog roast including buns, condiments and even post-roast desserts. Your guests will be served fresh pork by a trained carver and all the dishes will be cleaned or removed after your event. For guests who do not eat meat, your caterer can provide an alternative, such as a seitan roast.
Afternoon Tea Party
Afternoon tea tends to be a more formal option that a hog roast, but it can be perfect for a gathering when you only want to serve a light lunch or selection of appetisers. You can either ask a catering company to make and deliver a range of finger sandwiches, canapes and sweet treats for your guests to help themselves to, or you can ask your caterer to provide service for your event, which will involve food being served to your guest and a drinks service, which may include a variety of teas, soft drinks and aperitifs.
Classic Funfair Options
Do you love the funfair and want to recreate a bit of its magic at your outdoor gathering? Consider hiring a variety of food carts for your guests to peruse and enjoy at their leisure. Popcorn, fairy floss and hotdog carts are sure to please, and you can choose to either hire the carts and serve your guests yourself or have catering staff prepare and serve the food from the carts. If you want to add to the atmosphere, you could also hire a couple of funfair stalls, which would provide your guests with entertainment between their visits to the food carts.
These are just a few examples of fun catering options that are perfect for celebrating with friends and family at an outdoor gathering. When looking for a catering company, check whether they're willing to be flexible with what's on the menu to suit the needs of your guests and discuss whether they can also provide decorations to match the theme of your event.

There is nothing better than spending some time in the kitchen preparing a healthy and tasty meal. For many years, I was afraid of cooking. I didn't think that I had the skills to make food so I used to rely on microwave meals. However, all of that changed when I met a wonderful man. He was a chief and he loved food so much that you couldn't spend more than a couple of minutes around him without falling in love with good food. He has taught me lots of cooking skills which have enabled me to embrace the world of food.
